Easter Weekend

It all started at the community Easter egg hunt on Saturday morning. (How come people get all upset about Christmas trees, but no one gets upset about Easter egg hunts?) JT did a great job picking up his share of the under-two-group’s eggs.

After about 15 eggs were in his bucket, he realized he didn’t want them in there anymore. So he dumped them all out… and wouldn’t let me put them back in.

Then we looked at what was inside the eggs: stickers (allowed) and candy (not allowed). So we closed up the eggs and left them for other children to pick up. Since JT wouldn’t let any eggs back in his bucket, we went home empty handed. Too funny!

Grandpa and Grandma Keene were able to come to the hunt before leaving for their Easter weekend plans.

JT also got to ride in a fire truck. He didn’t want to come out! Good thing we got there when there wasn’t a big line, and he got an extra long turn.

On Sunday, we went to church at Meydenbauer Center. It was great to have everyone at one big service. Here JT is participating in a tradition called “Flower the Cross” where children add flowers to a huge, beautiful cross up front.

After church we ate a little lunch and, because of some inside connections, JT got to go in another big truck… a SWAT bear cat! He loved it, of course.

We headed to Aunt Linda and Uncle David’s house for Easter dinner and had a great time catching up with our cousin Marissa, who lives in Anchorage. JT loved meeting her daughter Afton and gave her lots of hugs.

After dinner, I caught Grandma and Uncle David sitting like this. Think they’re related? 🙂

JT was enamoured with the doggie door and had to check it out. (I’m sure he wonders why we don’t have one of those!)

Finally, JT got to open his Easter basket from us. His very favorite thing was the new bottle of juice. Remind me not to get him toys in the future… just food.
