We decided to have an impromptu birthday party for Jim’s 31st at our house on Memorial Day. We invited our families and the Skagens (and the Shucks… but they’re still contagious with norovirus so they declined). Even though JT was running a fever (see below), he put up a good front and we all had a great time!
JT wanted his buddy Cole to sit by him at dinner (“Cole sit, Cole sit…”).
After dinner we walked to our neighborhood park and enjoying a break from the rain. Aly was a daredevil and climbed to the top of the fireman pole! Cole and JT were more conservative and stayed near to the ground.
Then we walked home for dessert – a Costco chocolate layer cake and ice cream. Jim got help blowing out his candles and opening presents.
On Jim’s real birthday, he worked, but he got lucky and took half the night off. It was a beautiful evening and, by the time he got home, JT was in bed and I had built a campfire and was waiting for him with s’mores fixings – a great way to end the day. 🙂
