So it Begins

I love Black Friday. It is the official start of the Christmas season. I was not tempted at all to put up my decorations when it started snowing earlier in the week because I have my own little traditions for Black Friday.

First, I go shopping. I didn’t go crazy, but I did arrive at the mall at 5:30 with Starbucks in hand. I hit Sears and Macy’s and the OH MY GOSH 50% off everything at GAP sale. The best part there was listening to everyone ask the salespeople clarifying questions, “Um, is this 50% off too?” and “Just checking… is it 50% off everything? Even this?” The poor employees kept smiling and saying, “Yes. Everything. All of it. Whatever the price is on the tag, cut in half.” I got Haley a ton of clothes that I absolutely love. And now we have matching jeans. πŸ™‚

Next Target and Bed Bath & Beyond, and then I headed home. When I got home, Jim had Christmas music playing and the house lights on, and hot breakfast on the table. Gotta love that man!

Then we settled in to watch Iron Bowl (Alabama v Auburn… we don’t want to talk about it). While we watched, JT helped me stamp the Christmas cards. He honestly peeled off every single stamp and handed it to me for 60 cards.

After the game, JT got to play with his new nativity set (thanks, Grandma Keene!) and Jim and I started on the tree.

But JT wanted to help, so he got to hand me the ornaments. He only dropped one. πŸ™‚

Finally, I got started on the rest of the house. I ordered Haley’s stocking in plenty of time so it would be ready with the rest of ours. I adore our stockings. They make me smile.

I usually wrap the presents and put them under the tree that day, too, but I opted to snuggle on the couch with Jim. I wrapped the presents on Saturday while he was at work instead. Now I can relax, enjoy the rest of the month, and bake my Christmas cookies.
