Radar Lake

We’ve been looking forward to this past weekend since June for three reasons: weekend away, weekend with friends, and skiing Radar Lake. Way back in June, my friend Dani invited us to her birthday weekend. She said, “We’re camping at this place called Radar Lake. We rented it for the weekend. Have you heard of it?” I about fell out of my chair. Radar Lake is an exclusive ski lake – the first man made ski lake in the world, actually. It is about an hour outside Seattle and it is gorgeous. It used to be invitation-only but they allow non-pro skiiers and wakeboarders to rent the cabin and lake for the weekend from time to time.

Then we asked Jim’s parents if they wanted to trade their huge beautiful motorhome for our kids for the weekend (everybody thought they made a good deal) and we were off!

Jim set his new personal best this weekend! 2 at 28 off.
Sunset. Lovely.
Saturday night the hostesses arranged for a catered barbecue dinner for all of the guests – yum. We watched Alabama football and stuffed ourselves before rolling into bed and getting ready for another day of water and fun.
The Hollanders were there, too – yay!

Enjoying the fire

I didn’t set a new personal best but I skiied well and made a few full passes.

I also started learning to boat surf – so fun. The lake is made for water skiing, not boat surfing, so it was a little tough going and I had to try with my opposite foot forward, which felt weird. I had a great time trying and am looking forward to trying again this summer with Jackie and Dani (cough, cough!).

Jim stuck to skiing. Do what you love!
We hung around until dead last because we were enjoying relaxing by the fire by the lake in peace. Here’s our last picture before we headed home. What a great weekend – and there’s talk of a repeat for next year. Awesome!
