Snow Day

Today we woke up to snow! Which was great, because it was my first day off for winter break and we were all healthy with zero plans… a wonderful start to the vacation. We had also made paper snowflakes on Sunday and had watched flurries all weekend. The kids were so excited!

I posted this on Facebook too, but seriously, I get asked from time to time what color my eyes are because they are pretty dark. (They are blue.) But I never, ever get asked what color my kids’ eyes are. People comment often on Haley’s big blue eyes, but mostly people overlook JT’s. I’m not sure why – check these out!

Anyway, we built a snowman in the back yard (learned my lesson from last year’s knocked-over snowman in the front).

Then we walked to our park and the kids decided to do the slide. Oh, how I wish I had been prepared with video mode. Haley thought this was the funniest thing ever. When they landed there was a brief pause and I thought, Oh no! But Haley started in with this giant belly laugh and could barely get up she was laughing so hard. JT chimed in once he realized no one was hurt.

Of course, Haley wanted to do it again, right away. Look at that air! I guess wet slides and snow pants make for a low viscosity. I cut them off after three trips down because I thought for sure I was playing with fire. We ended on a high note with no tears and went home for lunch. It was a wonderful first day off!

p.s. I cannot stop smiling when I see this last picture of Haley. She was positively in stitches!
