We actually finished up the previous week’s yard work at the end of spring break. We had Ali’s help cutting back these crazy bushes and rhododendrons, and then we laid new bark. All week long, I worked a couple of hours a day digging out the old bark, weeds, and gunks, and moving flagstone so we’d have a new walkway around the side of the house where it got very muddy last winter. Then we added crushed rock to the walkways on the side of the house and in the back yard, and planted “evergreen, flowering, shallow rooted, partial sun, perennials” in the egg-shaped septic tank identifier in the back yard.
