Rock Climbing with Dad

It turns out, Haley is a great rock climber. She and Jim had a dad-and-daughter date for Sunday afternoon, but their first plan didn’t work out so they were in Seattle with no plans. Jim thought of going to REI and doing the climbing wall, and Haley was ALL IN.

After she got harnessed up (wearing shoes that were too big, because they don’t keep them on hand that small) she learned how to hang in the harness and trust her belayer.

Then off she went. Apparently the belayer looked at Jim and asked if she’d done this before, because they started her on a harder wall as the easier wall had a long line.

She motored up like a spider monkey!

No hesitation and lots of strength thanks to gymnastics three hours a week. πŸ™‚ At this point the belayer started making recommendations for how we could get Haley on a wall more often and let her refine this new found skill. Ha!

Afterward, Haley and Jim got chocolate dipped cones and celebrated another date in the books.
