Spirit Lake 2018

We missed going to Spirit Lake last year, and we wanted to make sure to get our trip worked into the fall schedule this year. When Labor Day weekend opened up, and the cabin was available, we jumped on it!

We left Friday and drove eight hours to get there, which was longer than we thought… and JT got to ride looking like a teenager because he’s finally tall enough to ride safely without a booster… and then we arrived, settled in, and went to sleep!

Saturday morning we slept in. Well, the adults slept in. The kids woke up at 4 AM, and then again at 6:30 AM, and then played upstairs until we got up. They left us a sweet note asking us to consider possibly making breakfast if it was at least 8 AM. 🙂 By 9 AM we were eating our Saturday pancake breakfast and enjoying the unbelievable view.

We paddle boarded, read in the sunshine, watched football, ate, hiked, took boat rides, jumped on the water trampoline, played games, and enjoyed family time all weekend long. Uncle Jimmy and Aunt Sara joined us for dinner Sunday evening, and the ribs and peach pie were amazing.

Our drive home on Monday was eight hours long as well, but we finished our summer read aloud (Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets) and our summer audio book (The Lightning Thief). So it was time well spent!
