A Week at Whidbey Island

Due to the civil unrest in the Seattle area and the community aggression aimed at law enforcement, we moved out of our home for a week. Fortunately, we found somewhere wonderful to go. The people who own the company I work for also own vacation rental homes on Whidbey Island, and they blocked off one house for the entire week.

They also made sure we had full access to their boat rides, kayaks, beach, and even invited us to a birthday party. 🙂

The whole week was lovely. We had great weather (mostly). The kids did school from there, and I worked. Jim joined us whenever he could, which was rare but wonderful.

The kids really enjoyed having their own floor – a hot tub, bonus room, and even JT’s bedroom were all downstairs!

Lunchtime off the kitchen…

Kayaking in the spit…

A trip to Langley for ice cream!

A few moments of rest for Jim – this made us all happy!

Jim and I also got a tour of the distillery next door – complete with whiskey ice cream.

We also got to put some baby goats who were visiting a neighbor.

We left the week feeling safe and having a wonderful family trip away after so long stuck at home, and that was just perfect.
