We invited family members to hang out with us digitally or outside over the weekend, and Preston and Chantal said yes! We met them at Gold Trail to Green Mountain on the sunny Sunday at noon, with our dogs and the kids. It was cool and beautiful on the trail. When we got home, MaverickContinue reading “Thanksgiving Weekend Hike”

Thanksgiving 2020
In Washington, our governor reinstated restrictions during November and December and asked people to limit contact with people outside their households, especially indoors and for large holiday dinners. We believe thanksgiving is a condition in our hearts more than the size of a gathering, so we stayed home and enjoyed a day of rest andContinue reading “Thanksgiving 2020”
Hip Surgery
Last August, I felt a pop/pull/pain in my left hip as I finished the Lake Meridian Triathlon. I got medical care, did physical therapy, and found out that I had a labral tear. The labral tear was likely caused by the fact that my hip has some extra bone in the joint that comes toContinue reading “Hip Surgery”
Calm with Bob Ross
Both of our kids love the Calm app, and they both fall asleep to it most nights. They each have their favorite stories, or sounds, and they can still fall asleep in silence too – so we let them drift off the way that works best for them. Bob Ross has a story on Calm,Continue reading “Calm with Bob Ross”
11 Trees
We got permission from our HOA architectural committee to remove three trees on our property line last May. Then after a long, expensive, and arduous process through our HOA Board, we also got permission to remove eight additional trees that border our property but are on common property in the green belt adjoining us. AfterContinue reading “11 Trees”
Rescheduled Haircuts
We let the kids’ hairstylist know about our COVID-19 exposure, and she has some health concerns that would make recovering from a respiratory illness more difficult. So we rescheduled their haircuts for after our quarantine, and it felt so good to get in and get some hairs cut! We take maybe 6 inches or moreContinue reading “Rescheduled Haircuts”
And then COVID-19
There have been a lot of jokes around people talking about the plans they had, and then they had to cancel because of coronavirus, its spread globally, and the restrictions governments and industries have put in place. We are certainly in this group, with life changes like cancelled in person school experiences, trips, birthday parties,Continue reading “And then COVID-19”
Back to School 2020
The school year was set to start in hybrid mode, which is when students attend part of the time in person and part of the time online, and then three weeks before the start of the school year the school board voted to go fully remote/online for the first quarter (nine weeks). Our kids hadContinue reading “Back to School 2020”
Middle School Orientation
What’s that again?! Yes, we have a middle schooler. We are excited to have JT attend a school we’ve heard great things about, with a principal we’ve heard great things about. When we moved into our neighborhood five years ago, our neighborhood was the only one assigned to our elementary school to not be assignedContinue reading “Middle School Orientation”
The Last Week of Summer
What a sad title. We love summer. But all good things come to an end! We played with our new badminton set, took the kids to the YMCA Outdoor Camp at Lake Helena all week long, picked the last of our carrots, enjoyed fresh tomatoes, made cupcakes, trimmed lilacs, and loved on the dog.
