We spent Labor Day weekend driving, ferrying, and boating 500 miles (plus a three-hour boat ride, each way) to Young Life’s camp Malibu, in Princess Louisa Inlet, British Columbia. In case you’re wondering where that is, it is here: Jim and I were blessed to run Kids’ Club each evening while the adults focused onContinue reading “Malibu Family Camp”

Happy Birthday Haley!
Haley turned four this past week. It was a pretty busy day! It started with breakfast and her “big” gift from Jim and me: a new Pinkalicious bike. Then we had JT’s kindergarten assessment meeting, which went wonderfully. We find out this week if he has morning or afternoon kindergarten. We love his new teacher!Continue reading “Happy Birthday Haley!”
Lately
We went to my cousin Alyssa’s wedding reception. It was really nice! Poor Jim had to get up the next morning at 4 AM for work and it didn’t start until 6 PM over an hour from our house… so we didn’t stay the whole time. The kids came with me to pick out newContinue reading “Lately”
Banks Lake Trip 2
We arrived into camp in the middle of a crazy storm. Visibility was so bad by the time we were parked in our site that we couldn’t see Steamboat Rock! We waited out the storm in Grandpa and Grandma Keene’s motor home and ate tacos until we could set up. Once we set up, weContinue reading “Banks Lake Trip 2”
Fun with Friends
We have had such a great week of beautiful weather and fun with our friends. Monday we visited the river with the Bonnell crew. Can you say cold? Tuesday we invited the Bonnell boys and our friend Piper over to play in our pool and slip-n-slide. Wednesday we had the Keefe family over for dinnerContinue reading “Fun with Friends”
Road Trip
Eleven: the number of hours the kids and I were traveling this weekend. First we drove to Port Orchard for my cousin’s bridal shower. She and her fiancee are really into penguins and my mom made these adorable penguin appetizers! JT spent the shower doing projects with Grandpa Cole, including using a hack saw andContinue reading “Road Trip”
Six
And then JT turned six! On our last day at Banks Lake, he woke up a year older. He pointed out that maybe he should be seven since you are born at zero, and then when you turn one you are actually finishing your first year. We talked about how he is starting his seventhContinue reading “Six”
Family Camping 1
Our annual pilgrimage to Steamboat Rock State Park with my family (31 years and counting) was, as always, a huge success. Out of the 1340 pictures taken by my sister-in-law and I, I have narrowed it to 34 to post. These are not even necessarily my favorites, but they show some highlights of the week.Continue reading “Family Camping 1”
Riding
You may have read that Haley could pedal her two-wheel bike (we don’t do training wheels) when I posted about that awhile ago. The problem was that she was exhausted from being so nervous about it, and she didn’t want to try because she said it made her want to cry. That all changed aContinue reading “Riding”
Summer Reading Program
We went to the library yesterday to get some news books and grabbed the materials for the summer reading program. Oh. My. I had no idea my kids would be so excited about this. The librarian did an awesome job talking to them about their new summer reading journals, and they came home ready toContinue reading “Summer Reading Program”
