We have such a great time on this annual tradition of camping with family. (We spent part of the week arguing about how many times we’d all been there… just kidding.) This year, due to booking circumstances, both sides of the crew were there together. We tried to explain to our kids just how specialContinue reading “Banks Lake 2019 Trip 2”

Banks Lake 2019 Trip 1
This summer we have two trips as usual. This first trip fell into our laps after an acquaintance asked if we wanted the site way back in November, as someone she knew was cancelling it. We said YES. So it was just going to be our little family of four for the week, but thenContinue reading “Banks Lake 2019 Trip 1”
Lincoln Rock 2019
We just love getting away for the weekend in our camper! I made reservations for Lincoln Rock State Park months ago and the kids were excited to visit there for the first time. Can you see the profile of my favorite president on the cliff face? We also got to install Jim’s birthday gift fromContinue reading “Lincoln Rock 2019”
Fort Worden 2019
Our now-annual camping trip with a bunch of people we don’t really know and a few that we do was another success. We arrived on Friday evening, set up, ate dinner, and snuggled in. The boys got very interested in whittling. Saturday we woke up to rain. And more rain. And lots of rain. WeContinue reading “Fort Worden 2019”
Jim’s Birthday Surprise
Every year for his birthday, Jim asks for the same thing: skiing and floating. With his wife. 🙂 And anyone else who wants to come. So this year his birthday fell on a Monday (which he has off, and so can I) and we didn’t have baseball over the weekend. I booked a surprise tripContinue reading “Jim’s Birthday Surprise”
Fort Worden
We were invited to Fort Worden by our friends the Drews for Memorial Day weekend, months ago. They have gone for the past few years with a group of people from local churches and they’ve enjoyed including more friends with young kids over the years, and this year there were two open spots – soContinue reading “Fort Worden”
Camping + Baseball
We spent last weekend camping and watching baseball, and it was just lovely. It was Mother’s Day weekend, and we reserved a spot at an RV Park about 15 minutes from the ball field. We drove down Friday evening and were able to get up and have a pancake breakfast before getting JT to theContinue reading “Camping + Baseball”
We bought a camper!
Jim and I have been looking at truck campers for a loooong time. We have visions of four-season camping (not just summer) and we love the idea of doing more adventures with our kids. New campers are crazy expensive, so Jim scours Craigslist for used campers in good condition often. Every end of the summer,Continue reading “We bought a camper!”
Steamboat Rock Trip 1
Our first trip to Steamboat Rock State Park on Banks Lake was with the Cole family for a week in July. We had such an amazing time! The weather was 90-95 degrees every day, and it was rare to see a cloud float by. In fact, most days were completely blue skies start to finish.Continue reading “Steamboat Rock Trip 1”
