We had a little different situation for our work retreat this year, with 5 of our team members joining virtually from home and 5 attending in person on Whidbey Island. It was a really useful two days and two nights of team planning, team building, and team eating.

Belgium for Two
Sometimes I get requests from educators around the world to come speak at their events. Usually, the budget is too small or the timing doesn’t work out. But occasionally it does, and this February I got a chance to speak at an event in Belgium. I invited Jim along, and he accepted! We stayed mostlyContinue reading “Belgium for Two”
BETT 2020
I had the opportunity to go to London for BETT Conference again this year, and it was certainly a busy week. I presented for Minecraft Education, Microsoft Forms, and ScreenBeam – and I presented at an evening event called Fan Fest at the largest Microsoft store in the world. I met with clients and prospectiveContinue reading “BETT 2020”
Quickest Work Trip Ever
I think I just set a new personal record for the quickest work trip! I left home at 8:15 AM after I put the kids on the bus, got the airport and parked by 9:30, bought a lunch for later, was on the plane by 9:50, and landed in Las Vegas at 12:50 PM. IContinue reading “Quickest Work Trip Ever”
New Zealand* again
I was invited back to New Zealand for a second trip to speak at the 2019 Microsoft Innovative Educator Expert Hui. It’s all the MIEExperts from New Zealand who can make it, plus some Aussies too. It is a great group and such an honor to be invited – back! I flew down on OctoberContinue reading “New Zealand* again”
Arizona Trip
I had to go to Phoenix for a work trip for a few days, so I invited Jim along. We had such a fun time in the hot sunshine! We landed on Wednesday and immediately went to hike Camelback, which we did a whopping 20 years ago together. We didn’t finish the hike… it wasContinue reading “Arizona Trip”
Haley does voiceovers
Haley and I took a trip to the Novel Effect studios in Seattle in mid-July. She got to attend a business meeting, do a demo of their new app, and record her voice for one of their new books! She did a great job! On the way home, we were thrilled that Jim was onContinue reading “Haley does voiceovers”
ISTE 2019
This is my sixth year in a row attending the biggest edtech conference in the states, and it was certainly my busiest! Philadelphia is a beautiful city, and I saw a little of it as I went in between events, dinners, receptions, meetings, and planning sessions with my team. I presented six times, met withContinue reading “ISTE 2019”
Minefaire Seattle
The kids had been waiting for weeks! Minefaire finally came to Seattle, and I got free tickets through my connections at work. We invited Jozie and Sawyer to join us for a day of fun! We left home at 8 AM and headed west on the ferry. We were told to grab spots in lineContinue reading “Minefaire Seattle”
FlipGrid in LA
Last week, I filled in for one of our trainers and flew to LA to help with a FlipGrid training. I’ve had the chance to use FlipGrid with JT’s class at school, and I have a pod and a shirt… so it felt like a good opportunity to log some training hours! Plus, it’s myContinue reading “FlipGrid in LA”
